If I load a capture file then bring up the “Capture -> Options” dialog, it forces all packets to be re-processed. I was just wondering why that happens. Is that expected behavior or should I file a bug report for it? It seems like a bug to me as I can’t figure out why it would need to reprocess all the packets in that case. It’s particularly annoying if you’ve got a large capture file opened and only wanted to check the capture options used, not actually start a new capture.
My guess is that 1) bringing up the dialog box changes a capture preference and 2) *any* change to *any* preference, even if it's not a protocol preference, causes packets to be reprocessed but I could be wrong. In any case, that seems pretty bogus, so file a bug. ___________________________________________________________________________ Sent via: Wireshark-dev mailing list <wireshark-dev () wireshark org> Archives: http://www.wireshark.org/lists/wireshark-dev Unsubscribe: https://wireshark.org/mailman/options/wireshark-dev mailto:wireshark-dev-request () wireshark org?subject=unsubscribe
