Check your TCP settings. TCP Offload and other settings can cause some or most of the traffic to bypass the virtual NIC and will be passed directly to the physical NIC on the host system. Or setup a port mirror and capture the traffic off the wire vs the virtual NIC. Can wireshark be setup to work on an esxi virtual machine? I’m trying to test it and all I’m seeing is broadcast traffic, no unicasts. The server is running Ubuntu Lucid desktop.
