It works here for GTK+ 2.16.6 / Windows 7, GTK+ 2.14.7 / OS X 10.4.11,

No luck with this patch, and this time with GTK+ 2.16.6 on OSX 10.6.1.
Does it work for anyone else?

Should we use yellow for warnings and red for errors?

Maybe. I assumed that if the message was important enough to color red
then it deserved a dialog. Do we have any error messages that belong
in
the status bar?

I was thinking about warnings like "Invalid filter", which leads to a
red background in the filter box. But maybe yellow will be as good in
the statusbar.
