In older Wireshark, you might have to go Edit->Preferences->User
Interface->Columns to reorder the columns.

Not sure what's not working with your installation but you can drag'n'drop
columns to change their order. I do it a few times a week.

Thanks to all that responded.

The disable transport name resolution didn't quite work. It did get rid
of the port name translations in the Informtion column. Unfortunately,
for some upper level protocols that have interpreters; i.e. DNS, MAPI,
etc.; it got rid of the port numbers completely.

The real solution was to change the columns in the User Interface to add
the Src Port (unresolved) and Dst Port (unresolved) columns. The problem
that I ran into with this is that the "Add" button doesn't allow you to
add the column immediately following the currently selected column. It
only appends the column to the end of the list. Also, there is no
drag-and-drop feature to allow you to re-rder the columns.

Deleting the existing columns and then add the columns in the desired
order was simply an inconvenience.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

I just downloaded the 32-bit Windows version of Wireshark 1.2.4 to look

Wireshark to display numeric port numbers.

Translating port numbers to names wouldn't be so irritating if the
ephemeral port used in the connection was left in its numeric form.

Enough of the tirade, where do I disable port number translation in
Preferences? I do want the numeric port number displayed.
