NULL pointer deferences cause a kernel trap.  Process execution is terminated
unless there is a special handler in place.  An attacker cannot manipulate
memory or the instruction pointer from this particular problem.  It does show
poor coding and perhaps by poking around the area of the NULL pointer deref you
could find a slightly different dereferencing problem.
