Being slightly OT, this is one of the most ignorant, brain dead ways in which
Microsoft is violating the RFCs. The idea of creating a client-side workaround
for misconfigured web servers is just ridiculous and creates all sorts of
problems, especially when you're trying to offer ways of automatically saving
content that is recognized by the URL moniker, such as PDF files... I remember
from a programming project a while ago that this behavior was not limited to the
so-called "ambiguous" MIME types (btw, what *exactly* is ambiguous about
"text/plain"? One might argue in the case of "application/octet-stream", even
though I doubt it, but "text/plain"? Ambiguous where?).
