There is no "problem" here.  Whois searches for ALL registered hostnames containing your search terms.
If I setup AOL.COM.DIGITALOFFENSE.NET, then that would show up if you searched for AOL.COM.

This is not a security issue, not something that can be "fixed", it is just a few DNS admins having their
fun with microsoft and the whois system.
