Odd - it compiled on my Ubuntu 9.10 virtual machine, with a 2.6.31-19-generic kernel.  What kernel does your RHEL5 
system have?

Checked into the main branch and pushed.  (I'll push it to the 1.1 branch once a file permission problem in the 
repository is fixed.)
