Unless I'm missing something, a lot of the history seems to have  
gotten lost.  For example, "git log pcap-bpf.c" shows:

so it appears to have lost about 8 years of history.

It looks as if it might have just grabbed the checkins on the  
libpcap_1_0 branch, rather than on the main branch.
