Live capture with round-robin savefiles?

Hi!
I have been digging into the arena of loggin with pcap - which I like  
BTW. Generally this generates *a lot* of data (savefiles) over time,  
so I thought about using some kind of round-robin technique to stay  
moderate on disk. Should I go for RRDTool or are there any more lean  
methods? Or should I use PF_Ring?
