Hi Albert, First a word of warning, the AIX BPF driver is flaky and unpredictable (and I've had little success with the DLPI driver) On Wed, 26 Feb 2003, Albert Chin wrote:
Built libpcap-0.7.1 with BPF for AIX 4.3.2 and tcpdump died after ~1s with: tcpdump: pcap_loop: read: Bad address
If you try using the CVS version of pcap instead this problem shouldn't occur.
So, rebuilt libpcap-0.7.1 with DLPI and tcpdump hangs the machine: WARNING: DL_PROMISC_MULTI failed (recv_ack: promisc_multi: Primitive issued in improper state) WARNING: DL_PROMISC_SAP failed (recv_ack: promisc_sap: Primitive issued in improper state) tcpdump: WARNING: recv_ack: promisc_sap: Primitive issued in improper state tcpdump: listening on en0
I also have this problem on AIX5.1. Cheers, Shaun - This is the TCPDUMP workers list. It is archived at http://www.tcpdump.org/lists/workers/index.html To unsubscribe use mailto:tcpdump-workers-request () tcpdump org?body=unsubscribe
