choosing the right set of rules

Hi,

i install the snort on tiny/slow machine and i want to set the exact set of
rules that fit to my project.
few questions :
1. how do i choose the right set of rules to enable ?

2. what are the differences between  emerging threats rules and the
snort.org ? any idea how  many rules overlap  ?
