the real problem is that this is the first time there's been a sub-version 
number that has been larger than 9... there's a lot of code out there that broke 
on this 2.9.11 version of snort because in the past the version numbers have 
always been 0-9... there are numerous snort related projects climbing out of 
this hole now...
