Snort is unable to start

Hi All,

I have a problem with the snort.

/etc/init.d/snortd start
Starting snort: Spawning daemon child...
My daemon child 2770 lives...
Daemon parent exiting (0)

 /etc/init.d/snortd status
snort dead but subsys locked

while starting snort it automatically gets locked. It's unable to start.
