Problem building snort 2.9.7.6 from SRPM

Trying to build snort 2.9.7.6 from the SRPM on a Scientific Linux 6 (EL6
mostly) box, I get "canonicalization unexpectedly shrank by one character"
from the debugedit phase. That's apparently indicative of a "//" somewhere
in a path, though I haven't been able to find it. Turning off debuginfo
works, of course, but it would be nice to have the -debuginfo RPM there too.

Any suggestions?
