I received this message from a user who upgraded from 2.9.5.x and went from
FreeBSD 9.2 to 9.3, and installed 2.9.7.x, but it fails to start with:

Loading dynamic engine /usr/local/lib/snort/dynamic_

output/libsf_dynamic_output.a...
ERROR: Failed to load /usr/local/lib/snort/dynamic_

output/libsf_dynamic_output.a:
/usr/local/lib/snort/dynamic_output/libsf_dynamic_output.a: invalid file
format
Fatal Error, Quitting..

Any ideas, developers?

Hi Bill. About some details.
At first, the world and the kernel have been updated according to the
standard procedure. (FreeBSD 9.2 => 9.3)
After that, was a ports updating. The Snort has been added to exceptions
and updated separately.
Those files local.rules, snort.conf, threshold.conf, list.rules,
black_list.rules have been backuped.
The port 2.9.5.6 has been removed through a make deinstall. The
/usr/local/lib/snort/dynamic_output catalog
has been deleted automaticly. The port 2.9.7.0 was installed, but this bug
was obtained.
The /usr/local/lib/snort/dynamic_output catalog has been removed by hands
and the port has been reinstalled again. The error persists.
I deleted 2.9.7.0 and in accordance of your instructions, installed 2.9.6.
The /usr/local/lib/snort/dynamic_output catalog has been re-established.
The error has not changed.
I checked all required dependencies and libraries. Then, Installed 2.9.7.0
from the tarball. Got the problem.

Unfortunately, there is not some possibility for reinstall all system.
The machine is a gateway of organisation. But Snort is an important
component of protection.

Hope, we are able to debug it together.
