$ sudo service snortd restart

hello All
when i run this command this error appear,
$ sudo service snortd restart
/etc/init.d/snortd: 1: /etc/init.d/snortd: d$: not found
/etc/init.d/snortd: 1: /etc/init.d/snortd: d$: not found
Stopping snort: snort: no process found

why this did not work????????
