@ERROR: Can't start DAQ (-1) - socket: Operation not permitted!

I am using snort-2.9.4.6

when i try to run snort other thsn root i get this error

ERROR: Can't start DAQ (-1) - socket: Operation not permitted!
Fatal Error, Quitting..

I tried to change all permissions and ran snort as root i get this error

The program 'snort' can be found in the following packages:
 * snort
 * snort-mysql
 * snort-pgsql
Try: apt-get install <selected package>


can anybody tell how to overcome this daq problem  I am fedup with it .
