How does snort create sub files from reading SO Files

Hi,
Can someone tell me how snort is a able to generate a stub file from a shared object file please.
I  want to write my own code to open a shared object file and generate a *.rules file in the so_rules directory
What information must I capture from the shared Object file?

Someone must have a flowchart on this.
