snort 2.9.5 - Failed to parse the IP address

[waldo kitty <wkitty42 () windstream net>]

ipvar DNS_RESEARCH 
[38.229.1.72/31,38.229.1.74,38.229.10/31,38.229.1.12,38.229.1.13,38.229.1.76,209.160.28.59]


what is wrong with the above ipvar? snort 2.9.5 says it can't parse it... it is 
in the same format as the AIM_SERVERS ipvar... this is working fine on other 
(older) snorts... what am i missing?
