Okay, I can run SNORT from the command line, - s and get it with a - l to write to the log. 

Ok I believe everyone when they say BY2 can't be the issue so it is either something in the snort.config or the pulled 
pork configuration. 

Anyone got a suggestion how to proceed?

Something seemingly when installing BY2 broke it.



I guess someone somewhere did something that could have broke your
"setup"
but unpacking by2 source,building it and installing it will not touch
snort at all.
