Snort Sam

Dear Snort users,
Amongst the many useful plugins for Snort, I cam across this thing
called Snortsam which allows for automated blocking of IP addresses on
firewalls. So I am curious to know if the project is being still
maintained and kept updated by the people who began it.
And, if any other plug ins are available which perform the same task
(or maybe Snort can do it very well itself?)
