Problem With Snort

Hello can anyone help me out with snort .

Problem I am facing:
--- when i do snort -c snort.conf then it does not do anything while if i
do snort -vde then it starts capturing the packets.

Even i tried to log the files created is of 0 bytes. I dont know whats
happening .
