How not to get alert.xxxxxxxxx files

Hi,

I am running snot on the interface in the fast mode, I just want asci
alert file but snort also keeps generating alert.xxxxxxx files which
hog my disk space.

Also my alert file reaches a fixed length and never grows in size ,
once I delete alert.xxxxxx files it start growing.

Can someone please guide me here.
