add rules without restarting

Hi,

I'm relatively new to snort. I use snort 2.9.2.2 (mode: inline, daq:
ipq) as a IPS for a security tournament.

So I need to add and modify rules frequently. As Snort is running on a
proxy,  restarting will cause a denie of service for a short moment.

I was wondering if it's possible to add and modify rules without
restarting Snort. Do you know a methode to do it?
