Accelerating Snort with NetFPGA

Hello.
I'm interesting to write (Verilog) a Snort accelerator that uses NetFPGA.
and I have 2 questions:
1) I'm wondering if already exists and if there are similar opensource 
projects that i can see.
and 2) How i getting started with Snort source code is there any tutorial?
