sorry apparently I did not do a reply-all.. (see more info below) Luis ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Luis <luis.mlists () gmail com> Date: Wed, Oct 6, 2010 at 4:18 PM Subject: Re: [Snort-devel] daq/snort 2.9.0 on Solaris sparc ? To: Russ Combs <rcombs () sourcefire com>
Thanks for reporting this. We'll look into it.
Thanks, don't know if I 'broke anything' by removing those lines :-)
2nd question. Are the http_inspect and ftp_telnet preprocesors related in any way? It seems that the configuration parsing may be mixing them up? (or it may just be my configuration?).No - at least the shouldn't be. It sounds like maybe you have an old ftp so registering as http? Definitely weird. Did you uninstall the old dynamic preprocessors first? Have you tried changing the order of preprocessor configs in your conf (http, ftp and then ftp, http)?
I usually create a solaris package (like an rpm), remove the old one and put the new one in. Just re-installed the package and made sure that I removed all the dynamic directories... still same issue. will recompile and re-create a new package and test some more. Another interesting thing, the order does not seem to matter. original order in the conf (modeled after the VRT on the ruleset for 2900) was http then ftp_telnet. then tried ftp_telnet, httpinspect and got same error. It doesn't seem right that when it fails reading the 'stateful' ftp_telnet configuration (using -T) it has already printed out the configuration of the http inspect preprocessor as STATELESS. However the error says "Stateful HttpInspect processing is not yet available" see here on ftp_telnet, http order.. log (somewhat sanitized :) ) PROGRAMDIR/snort -T -c snort2.conf.2.9.0.test -d -i bge2 -O .... rpc_decode arguments: Ports to decode RPC on: 111 32770 32771 32772 32773 32774 32775 32776 32777 32778 32779 alert_fragments: INACTIVE alert_large_fragments: INACTIVE alert_incomplete: INACTIVE alert_multiple_requests: INACTIVE HttpInspect Config: GLOBAL CONFIG Max Pipeline Requests: 0 Inspection Type: STATELESS Detect Proxy Usage: NO IIS Unicode Map Filename: <path>/unicode.map IIS Unicode Map Codepage: 1252 Max Gzip Memory: 838860 Max Gzip Sessions: 20 Gzip Compress Depth: 20480 Gzip Decompress Depth: 20480 DEFAULT SERVER CONFIG: Server profile: All Ports: 80 311 591 593 901 1220 1414 2301 2381 2809 3128 3702 7777 7779 8000 8008 8028 8080 8118 8123 8180 8243 8280 8888 9443 9999 11371 Server Flow Depth: 0 Client Flow Depth: 0 Max Chunk Length: 500000 Max Header Field Length: 750 Max Number Header Fields: 100 Inspect Pipeline Requests: YES URI Discovery Strict Mode: NO Allow Proxy Usage: NO Disable Alerting: NO Oversize Dir Length: 500 Only inspect URI: NO Normalize HTTP Headers: NO Inspect HTTP Cookies: YES Inspect HTTP Responses: YES Extract Gzip from responses: YES Unlimited decompression of gzip data from responses: NO Normalize HTTP Cookies: NO Enable XFF and True Client IP: NO Extended ASCII code support in URI: NO Ascii: YES alert: NO Double Decoding: YES alert: NO %U Encoding: YES alert: YES Bare Byte: YES alert: NO Base36: OFF UTF 8: YES alert: NO IIS Unicode: YES alert: NO Multiple Slash: YES alert: NO IIS Backslash: YES alert: NO Directory Traversal: YES alert: NO Web Root Traversal: YES alert: NO Apache WhiteSpace: YES alert: NO IIS Delimiter: YES alert: NO IIS Unicode Map: GLOBAL IIS UNICODE MAP CONFIG Non-RFC Compliant Characters: 0x00 0x01 0x02 0x03 0x04 0x05 0x06 0x07 Whitespace Characters: 0x09 0x0b 0x0c 0x0d Portscan Detection Config: Detect Protocols: TCP UDP ICMP IP Detect Scan Type: portscan portsweep decoy_portscan distributed_portscan Sensitivity Level: Low Memcap (in bytes): 20000000 Number of Nodes: 39138 Ignore Scanner IP List: ...
