Sourcefire VRT Certified Snort Rules Update

Synopsis:
The Sourcefire VRT is aware of vulnerabilities affecting Microsoft
products.

Details:
Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-090:
Microsoft Internet Explorer contains programming errors that may allow
a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system.

Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in
this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 18197 through 18199,
18216 through 18218 and 18221.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-091:
The Microsoft Windows Font Driver contains programming errors that may
allow a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system.

Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in
this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 18219, 18220 and
18233.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-093:
Microsoft Movie Maker contains a programming error that may allow a
remote attacker to execute code on an affected system. The problem
occurs because the application loads a library in an insecure fashion.

Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in
this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 18210 and 18211.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-094:
Microsoft Windows Media Encoder contains a programming error that may
allow a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system. The
problem occurs because the application loads a library in an insecure
fashion.

Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in
this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 18222 through 18227.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-095:
Microsoft Windows 7 contains a programming error that may allow a
remote attacker to execute code on an affected system. The problem
occurs because the application loads a library in an insecure fashion.

Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in
this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 18208 and 18209.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-096:
Microsoft Windows Address Book contains a programming error that may
allow a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system. The
problem occurs because the application loads a library in an insecure
fashion.

Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in
this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 18204 through 18207.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-097:
Microsoft Windows Address Book contains a programming error that may
allow a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system. The
problem occurs because the application loads a library in an insecure
fashion.

Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in
this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 18202 and 18203.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-101:
Microsoft Windows Server contains a programming error that may allow a
remote attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) against an affected
system. The problem occurs when a domain controller attempts to process
a malicious RPC request.

A rule to detect attacks targeting this vulnerability is included in
this release and is identified with GID 3, SID 18215.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-103:
Microsoft Publisher contains programming errors that may allow a remote
attacker to execute code on an affected system.

Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in
this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 18212 through 18214,
18230 and 18231.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-104:
Microsoft Sharepoint Server contains a programming error that may allow
a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system.

A rule to detect attacks targeting this vulnerability is included in
this release and is identified with GID 3, SID 18238.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-105:
Microsoft Office contains programming errors that may allow a remote
attacker to execute code on an affected system.

Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in
this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 18200, 18201, 18229
and 18235 through 18237.

Exim Remote Root Vulnerability CVE-2010-4344:
A heap based buffer overflow condition exists in versions of Exim prior
to 4.70.

The SMTP preprocessor will generate events for attacks targeting this
vulnerability, identified with GID 124, SID 2.
