Daemonlogger won't run. Cannot find libdnet.1

I'm having trouble running daemonlogger 1.2.1.
I compiled it with no extra options or changes (./configure, make, make
install)

Any help would be appreciated.

# daemonlogger
daemonlogger: error while loading shared libraries: libdnet.1: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory


Here is some information about my system:

# uname -a
Linux <myhostname> 2.6.18-164.6.1.el5 #1 SMP Tue Oct 27 11:28:30 EDT 2009
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 (Tikanga)

# dmesg
Linux version 2.6.18-164.6.1.el5 (mockbuild () ls20-bc2-14 build redhat com)
(gcc version 4.1.2 20080704 (Red Hat 4.1.2-46)) #1 SMP Tue Oct 27 11:28:30
EDT 2009

Libdnet was installed via "yum install libdnet libdnet-devel"

# rpm -qa | grep dnet
libdnet-devel-1.11-1.2.el5.rf
libdnet-1.11-1.2.el5.rf

# find /usr -name "libdnet*" -print
/usr/local/lib64/libdnet.so
/usr/lib64/libdnet.so.1.0.1
/usr/lib64/libdnet.a
/usr/lib64/libdnet.so
/usr/lib64/libdnet.so.1

Hardware is an HP ProLiant BL465c
