Remove the equal sign and leave a space between limit and 128. See if that
helps.

getting the above error when i run this, per the snort 2.8.4.1 ubuntu 9
install guide:

 


snort -c /etc/snort/snort.conf -i eth0

line 885 of snort.conf:
output unified2:filename snort.log, limit=128
