Barnyard2 1.5 waldo file problems

Is anyone else having problems with barnyard2 v1.5 and waldo files? I've noticed that:

1. If the waldo file exists and has data in it prior to running (created by, say, barnyard2 v1.4,) barnyard2 v1.5 works 
properly
2. If the waldo file does not exist, by2 will not create it
3. If the file exists but is empty (created with touch, for example) by2 does not write to it

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, are there any solutions?
