Did you put an entry in your hosts files or local dns that points
dl.snort.org to the 68.177.102.20?  That will get you the 404.   If
you are you not using external dns you need to manually point
www.snort.org to 68.177.102.20 and dl.snort.org to 68.177.102.34.

Could be something else entirely, but I got a 404 before i realized
that dl.snort.org was on a the different IP.
