Well, first things first, are you sure that the sensor is seeing the
traffic? Try using tcpdump and make sure it is.  If it is, are you sure
Snort is trying to log it? If you can confirm all of these other components
are working, verify the alert is in the database and that BASE is simply
unable to see it. That should help get an understanding of where the problem
is occurring...

I finally have snort up and running, or at least I think I do, on Fedora 4
with BASE 1.2.5.

 

I was having problems getting the web page to appear, but that is no longer
an issue. 

 

Now, I have my sniffing port, and two devices connected to a hub and I
initiated a NESSUS scan from on device to the other and I was amazed that
the counters were not increasing upon login to the base management console.
Does anyone have anything that I can check to see why my counters are not
increasing?

 

I am sure that the scan is working, and I hope my hub isn't dead.
