I figured it out. I had to create a second mysql account called snort () otherhost domain com and set its password and permissions. I think I broke my sql user trying to allow access to mysql from a remote server. When I'm at the console and it type > mysql I get an access denied for user root! Will somone please explain how I can setup my snort user to have access to the snort database from the localhost and from my remote sensors. thank you for all your help. jb
