Used 10.1.14.0/24 too and still got the same error. No clue why? Any help will be appreciated! Thanks, Peter --- Lee Clemens <snort () leeclemens net> wrote:
You cannot use 10.1.14/24 either. You will need to make it 10.1.14.0/24. the x.x.x.0 is the start of any /24 network block. If your IP address starts with 10.1.14 and your subnet is 255.255.255.0, then use 10.1.14.0/24 as HOME_NET. That should fix it! --lee -----Original Message----- From: Peter Rodger [mailto:prodger2008 () yahoo com] Sent: Wednesday, February 23, 2005 5:10 PM To: snort () leeclemens net Subject: RE: [Snort-users] No netmask specified for home network Thanks for your help. I used 10.1.14/24 as a home_net before and I still got the same error. (255.255.255.0 is the subnet mask). I really do not know what's wrong with it. Thanks, Peter --- Lee Clemens <snort () leeclemens net> wrote:Are you using a cable/dsl router? If so you're netmask can't be /32. What's your subnet mask set to on your TCP/IP Properties for your ethernet? This number should relate to the slashnotation addresstoenter as HOME_NET. Although you need to convert the 255.255.255.xxx number to slash notation (see below) Let me know if you have any other questions or if that doesn't help! --Lee Here's a subnetting cheat sheet too: Subnet Cheat Sheet
