Um, the ArachNIDS rules haven't been maintained for several years (since 
2001). Their latest release was for snort 1.8.0

ArachNIDS is, at present, unmaintained and outdated, and may never regain 
their previous status as actively maintained rules. Until a new release is 
made, I'd not even look twice at them.

If you want addon rules in the interim, look at bleedingsnort.com
