I am not sure about mandrake but there should be a command to
automatically downlaod and install libcap. for example:
SUSE: type the command yast -i libpcap
Debian: type command apt-get install libpcap
 
you could also download the libpcap library and install using the usual:
./configure
make
make install
 
check http://www.tcpdump.org/

I am very new to linux
I am installing snort-1.6.3 on mandrake-9.1 but am not getting libpcap
libraries for them
can anybody suggest me some url where all my doubts shall be solved
