RE: IDS consultants - my apologies

I don't see why anyone would get offended....but
anyways here are a few things that will hamper your
efforts:

1) I don't think there are very many consultants who
specialize in open-source IDS only, except for maybe
in the MAJOR cities.

2) Most IDS people are not consultants and have other
responsibilities. My responsibilities are IT Security
operations, such as Intrusion Prevention, SSL Certs,
Vulnerability Scanning, policy, security consulting,
securing OSes...etc.

With this in mind, you may have to broaden your scope
to include security specialists. This may actually
null and viod your purpose...:(

Cheese!

My apologies to the list members if anyone is (or was)
offended by my
asking about consulting fees for IDS specialists.

The problem is, there doesn't seem to be much
information out there on how
much people in this area of IT technology earn, and
although I know this
is off topic for this list, it did seem, nevertheless,
a place where the
experts convene and thusly I thought I could find this
information out for
my open source project.

Again, my apologies if I offended anyone's
sensibilites. The web pages
that offer information on IT technology earn rates
just don't have a
category for IDS specialists and my feeling is that
this is indeed an area
of professional specialty that should be considered
something in its own
right.

All be well,

J.
