What does this have to do with deleting data from the db?

You should really upgrade snort before you go to upgrade the rules.  But
I believe the answer is no, you can not use current.  If I remember
right, current will have the flowbits and pcre in it, and 1.9 will not
know those.

If you are using a version older than 2.0.6, please upgrade. 

If you are using 2.0.*, please use snortrules-snapshot-2_0 rules. 

If you are using 2.1.*, please use snortrules-snapshot-2_1 rules. 

If you are using 2.2.*, please use snortrules-snapshot-2_2 rules. 

If you are using CURRENT, please use snortrules-snapshot-CURRENT rules.
