Juan,

I found this on Google.  You can try this, or Google around a bit for
yourself.

./configure --prefix=/www/php --with-apxs2=/www/bin/apxs
--with-config-filepath=/www/php --enable-sockets
--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql --with-zlib-dir=/usr/local/lib --with-gd

I think the key to this is the --prefix.  It's worth a shot.

I am installing php-4.3.6 on Fedora, 

  

When I am compiling I receive the following error :

Assuming installing a .so rather than a libtool archive. 

chmod 755 /www/modules/libphp4.so 

chmod: failed to get attributes of `/www/modules/libphp4.so': No such
file 
or directory 

apxs:Error: Command failed with rc=65536 

. 

make: *** [install-sapi] Error 1
