Portscan traffic on ACID

I do not know whether this is the place for this
question but it is the closest that I can find.

I have configured snort to run and log the data to
ACID.

Just want to ask:

How can I get ACID to detect/capture portscan traffic?

Is there a specific tool that I need to use to do the
port scanning so that snort can capture it and
subsequently ACID will have that data too?
