PHP install problem!

[BCalvert () wagstaff com]

I am installing PHP-4.3.4 and when I type the make command I get this
error. . .

"/usr/bin:ext/zlib/zlib.lo:file format not recognized: treating as linker
script"

I have zlib-1.2.1 installed.  Does this look familiar to anyone?
