You can use Crystal Reports with an ODBC connection to the MySQL snort Db. Crystal can use ODBC sources for its data. You can download the MySQL ODBC drivers from the MySQL.com site. I have not used Crystal Reports to make any reports on MySQL using this method but I have used MS Access and it work well ehough. Point of note if you decide to make use of Crystal Reports - Make sure that that ODBC source is a SYSTEM ODBC not a USER ODBC. This will come in handy if you ever decide to use the Crystal Reports Web Server utility to publish your reports. Point of note on the MySQL ODBC drivers - name your ODBC source something intuitive but NOT the same name as the DB that you are connecting to. I have seen problems with the ODBC name having conflicts with data access of a DB of the same name. What I do is name my ODBC name a combination of the hostname and the DB name (IE a DB called snort on a host called Winston has an ODBC name of WinstonSnort) Carlos
Anyone out there have a favorite report writing app (ala Crystal Reports) for MySQL? I checked the Crystal Reports site and didn't see a listing for MySQL. I hit the MySQL site and saw a reference to LassoReport by a company called BlueWorld. Anyone have any others they use?
