barnyard and respawn

hi,

i would try to respawn barnyard and added to inittab

bar:45:respawn:/usr/local/bin/barnyard -c /etc/snort/barnyard.conf -d
/var/log/snort -g /etc/snort/gen-msg.map -s /etc/snort/sid-msg.map -f
snort.log -w /var/log/snort/waldo.log

but i doesnt work

i seems that the long process is a problem for inittab. if i cut them
barnyard is starting but without all options.
newline \ didnt works too.
