Barnyard problem

Command? Everything was going so well, too.
Command? Sun ultra5, running solaris 8.
Command? configuring barnyard with: ./configure --with-mysql
Command? --with-mysql-includes=/opt/local/mysql/include

Too many errors encountered; the rest of the message is ignored:
--with-mysql-libraries=/opt/local/mysql/lib

Configure works no problem, but did report autoconf and automake were
missing. Continued on anyway. Make worked, continuing past missing
autoconf. Make install only installed the barnyard executable. No
other files, especially not the conf file. Since I need the conf
file,

make uninstall; make clean; make distclean;

Installed the autoconf binary package version 2.57 from sunfreeware
(this appears to be the latest version).

Reran configure, autoconf is now found, automake is still not found
(no
surprise there).

The surprises were two:

WARNING: Using auxiliary files such as `acconfig.h',
`config.h.bot'WARNING: and `config.h.top', to define templates for
`config.h.in'WARNING: is deprecated and discouraged.WARNING: Using the
third argument of `AC_DEFINE' andWARNING: `AC_DEFINE_UNQUOTED' allows

`main' is needed.])WARNING: More sophisticated templates can also be
produced, see theWARNING: documentation.autom4te: need GNU m4 1.4 or
later: /usr/ccs/bin/m4autoheader: /usr/local/bin/autom4te failed with

`stamp-h.in'

1. It appears to me that autoconf is outdated somehow, but I think I
have the latest version, so I must be missing something.

2. For what it's worth, /usr/ccs/bin/m4 does exist, and is version
1.4.

So now what?
