Problem installing snort 2.0.1 with mySQL

 Hi, 
 I am trying to compile snort 2.0.1 with mysql
 support,
 however while configuring, it gives me the following
 error:
 
 
 checking for mysql... 
 
 **********************************************
   ERROR: unable to find mysql headers (mysql.h)
   checked in the following places
         /usr/include
         /usr/include/mysql
         /usr/local/include
         /usr/local/include/mysql
 **********************************************
 
 I have searched for the mysql.h file, and indeed it
 is not on my (linux) machine
 
 Previously I had snort 1.90 which I installed using
 the rpm packages, and the mysql support was working
 corectly.
 
 Should I reinstall mysql? Please help
