SnortCenter over writes variables

For some reason SnortCenter over writes variables that I've change when 
a perform an "Update From Internet".  For example, I modify $HOME_NET to 
be something other than "any", and when I perform the update, it finds 
out there is new variable called $HOME_NET and assigns it to "any".

Is there some config I can change to prevent this from happening?  Thanks.
