I've got to ask, whats the point?  I can see local snort users groups,
since they can have real meetings, presentations, install-fests, and
have actual face time with other people that use snort in their area.

There is an IRC community for interactive online discussions and 3 mailing
lists already for the "Internet user group".

What doesn't this provide that you are after?
