The error message is telling you very plainly what is wrong.  Snort
can't login to the mysql database.  Can you login to mysql using the
username and password that you have in your snort.conf file?  (I suspect
not.)  Does that user have appropriate rights so that it can insert and
update records?  Go back and read the docs on installation and you'll
probably find your problem.

ok, i just about have snort running at this point...  however when it
starts it immediatley crashes and i get this message in the messages log
file: Jun  2 15:03:32 joel snort: FATAL ERROR: database: mysql_error:
Access denied for user: 'snort@127.0.0.1' (Using password: YES)

Anyone have a clue why it would be giving me this type of hassle?
