Lightweight Intrusion Detection for Networks paper

Hi,

 Does anyone have the date Snort - Lightweight Intrusion Detection for 
Networks was written.  There are several areas which talk about changes 
that are under development.  It would be nice to know if these are 
changes which have already occured or not,  ie.  detection engine  and a 
major overhaul.
